Hey, pattern makers!

Today, we're diving into a simple but powerful feature that can be a lifesaver for any creative process: the Reset Page function.

Creativity is often a messy journey. You add an icon, change its color, add some text, resize it, duplicate it, and before you know it, your canvas is a little... chaotic. Sometimes, the best way forward is to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. That's where resetting comes in.

What Does "Reset Page" Actually Do?

Think of it as a magic eraser for a single page in your project. When you reset a page, it does two main things:

  • Removes all shapes: Every icon, emoji, clipart, text box, and shape you've added to that specific page will be cleared.
  • Resets the background: Any custom background color, gradient, or image will be removed, reverting it to the default canvas background.

Most importantly, it only affects the current page. Your other pages, custom fonts, and project settings remain completely untouched. The page itself isn't deleted, just emptied, giving you a brand-new canvas to unleash your next great idea.

How to Reset a Page: Step-by-Step

There are two easy ways to access this feature.

Method 1: Using the Page Control Panel

This panel appears when you have the page itself selected (meaning no individual shapes are clicked).

  • Deselect Everything: First, make sure you don't have any shapes selected. The easiest way to do this is to simply click on an empty area of your canvas.
  • Find the Page Control Panel: Once the canvas is selected, a floating control panel will appear near the top of your workspace.
  • Click the Reset Button: On the far right of this panel, you'll see a red button with an icon that looks like a trash can with an arrow pointing up. This is the Reset Design button. Click it.
  • Confirm Your Action: A confirmation pop-up will appear. This is a crucial step because resetting a page cannot be undone. This is your last chance to make sure you really want to clear everything. If you're sure, click "Yes, Reset".
  • Enjoy Your Clean Slate! Your page is now empty and ready for a fresh start.

Method 2: The Right-Click Menu (The Speedy Way)

For even faster access:

  • Right-click anywhere on the empty canvas background (not on a shape).
  • A context menu will appear. Select "Reset Page".
  • The same confirmation pop-up will appear. Confirm your choice, and you're done!

Pro-Tip: Duplicate Before You Reset!

Feeling hesitant about clearing a design you've spent time on? Here's the best workflow: Duplicate the page first!

This creates a perfect copy of your work, giving you a safe backup. You can then freely reset the original page to try out a new idea. If you don't like the new direction, you can always delete the reset page and go back to your duplicated design.

To duplicate a page, just click the "copy" icon in the header of any Page Card.

  • Single Select: Just click on any item in the Layers Panel to instantly select it. You'll see the selection box appear around the corresponding shape on your canvas.
  • Multi-Select:
To select several specific layers, hold down Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) and click on each layer you want to select.
To select a whole range of layers at once, click the first one in the sequence, then hold down Shift and click the last one. Everything in between will be selected!

Reset vs. Delete: What's the Difference?

  • Reset Page: Clears the content of a single page but keeps the page in your project.
  • Delete Page: Removes the entire page from your project. You can do this using the trash can icon in the Page Card header.

3. Editing the Background

At the very bottom of your layer list, you'll always find the Background layer. Clicking this is the quickest way to select your page's background. Once selected, the style panel will appear, allowing you to easily change the background color or upload a background image.

Go Create!

Don't be afraid to experiment and make a mess. The reset function is your safety net, ensuring you always have a clean canvas ready when inspiration strikes. Now, go make something amazing
